HLTAID009 Provide Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (replace old unit HLTAID001 Provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation) provides training for individuals to give Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR), a skill that helps maintain blood flow to the brain and heart in an emergency. The theory and practical aspects of this course not only equip people with the knowledge of CPR, but also teach them how to identify if the situation calls for a CPR or not, and the confidence to practise it.
Participants get hands-on and interactive training on all aspects of basic resuscitation as well as the use of defibrillators in the public setting. They are taught the skills necessary to maintain breathing and circulation in an adult, child, or infant, following cardiac arrest.
The content of this course is based on Australian Resuscitation Council Guidelines and applies to all workers who may be required to provide CPR, in a range of situations, including community and workplace settings.
